Today when we where out in the sunshine we where surprised to see a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly sitting on the wall.

We take a walk to the summer meadow.

The Bumblebees are hard-working.

A butterfly.
A Small Tortoiseshell, aglais urticae.
It’s difficult to take photos of butterflies. They fly away.
But not this one. I came really close.

SOMETHING MARVELOUS HAS HAPPENED!
Look here!
These following pictures below is taken 15 days later at the same place.
Small Tortoiseshell caterpillars.
Now, we understand why the butterfly we see here abowe didn’t fly away when I took a photo of it.
It were laying eggs. Eggs, which now is hatched.
These caterpillars will weave a cocoon, inside which they will develop into a butterfly.

May I also take the chance and show this red insect which happened to sit on the nettles just beside the caterpillars.
